Derrick update

We took Derrick to the Nephrologist today. It was horrible. It was the first time that we had gone to that doctor so we were there 30 minutes earlier than our appointment time. But then we had to wait another 40 minutes past our appt. time. 30 minutes in one room while we waited for another room. Then we waited 20 minutes to see the doctor, 10 minutes waiting for Derrick to pee, and then another 20 minutes waiting for the doctor to tell the Nurse to tell us the sample looked good. I think it was the worst doctors visit that we've ever experienced. But finally we made it home. Derrick is supposed to go back for an ultrasound to see if the upper pole of his kidney is viable and if there are two collection systems. If there are two and the upper portion of his kidney is viable and the one collection system is just blocked, then they may have to do surgery to remove it. But if the upper pole is not viable then it may just shrink on its own and no surgery is needed. Poor baby boy has been through alot, but he is also the happiest baby that I have ever seen. He is smiling all the time. He loves to interact with us. When he smiles its like he smiles with his whole body. He is adorable, a blessing, and we are grateful to have him as a part of our family.
